The Group aims to prepare players for the way in which they would normally be expected to play in a recognised Bridge Club. The only criteria for members joining this Group is that they must have a regular partner to play with. Most players will have completed the "Introduction to Duplicate Bridge" and the follow up course "Improve your Bridge”. Members who have learned to play ACOL bridge to an appropriate level elsewhere are also able to join, subject to the priorities listed below. This group meets on Thursday afternoons from 1400 to 1630. The “Duplicate Bridge Advanced” group provides opportunity to put into practice, under simulated club conditions, the skills learned in the “Improve Your Duplicate Bridge” course. It is a half-way-house between the nurturing environment of the classroom and the cut‑and‑thrust of a Duplicate Bridge Club.
Entry requirement for Duplicate Bridge - Advanced
Members who complete two years on the “Improvers” course are given first priority for places in the Duplicate Bridge - Advanced Play group. Due to the need to provide places for those coming up from the Improvers course it may be necessary to restrict members to two years in the Duplicate Bridge - Advanced Play group. This has not proved necessary in recent years.
