Renew Your membership using Beacon
A guide to how to use the Beacon system to renew your membership can be found here.
You can either renew your membership online, which is our recommended option, or you can renew by completing and posting back the Renewal Form you are sent by the Membership Secretary. The Renewal Form will be attached to the renewal Invitation email you receive each year. If you renew by post, you can either pay by cheque or Bank Transfer.
The following information is for members who wish to renew online
If you haven’t registered your email address with Fleet U3A or have changed your registered email address then please contact the Membership Secretary, via email at memsec@fleetU3A.org.uk to update your membership record.
You will need a registered email address to access Beacon, and to receive our monthly Newsletter that is sent directly to all members.
Using Beacon, you can renew your membership online and pay the current membership fee with a simple and quick transaction using a credit card, debit card, or if you already have one a PayPal account. Most of our members do so without experiencing any problems. It means you will not need to complete and return the paper membership form you were sent with your renewal invitation.
Go to our website fleet.u3asite.uk and select ‘Membership’, then select ‘Go to membership login page’
Once you have logged in to the Beacon Portal you will see the Option ‘Renew your membership’
Please tick the Gift Aid box if you are a UK taxpayer and eligible for us to claim Gift Aid from HMRC on your subscription.
We should appreciate if all members could renew as separate individuals rather than paying for any partner as happened in the past. The Beacon system will still offer the option to pay for a partner who is also a U3A member, but we politely suggest that you untick that option to pay for a partner. HMRC rules mean we are only able to claim Gift Aid for the person making the payment. Therefore, to enable us to claim Gift Aid for any partner it is necessary for them to renew and pay separately. Gift Aid claims to HMRC help Fleet U3A to keep our membership costs low.
You DO NOT need to have to create a PayPal account when transferred by Beacon to the Paypal site to make your payment.
To pay your membership fee choose "Pay with Debit or Credit Card". After you have entered your card details and address you should untick the box that says, "Save information and create Paypal Account". You will then be able to click on a box that says, "Pay now as Guest".
When you renew on-line, an electronic copy of your Membership Card will automatically be attached to your emailed receipt. We will send you a printed Membership Card later with your Programme booklet around mid-July.
