With the exception of some tutors in a few groups, Fleet u3a is run entirely by volunteers. We are always looking for new volunteers to join us to help keep our u3a thriving. Have a look below at where you might be able to help out doing something that you also find enjoyable at the same time. Volunteering is at the heart of our u3a, enabling members to share skills, build communities, and enrich their own lives.

Without our volunteers we would not be able to provide everything we do for our almost 2,000 members!

Group Leaders

Our Group Leaders and their assistants are the backbone of our u3a. With over 100 groups we are always looking for people who are interested in supporting an existing group as an assistant, whether they are an existing group member or thinking of joining.

If you are interested in a subject for which there is currently no group why don't you start one up. Talk to our Group Liaison Committee member to find out how to set one up and what support we can give you. Use this link to get some ideas on potential new groups.

Catering Team

Our Catering Team is looking for a few volunteers to lend a hand at three events a year.

If you can spare a little time to help with tasks such as serving refreshments, light food preparation and tidying away afterwards we’d love to hear from you. No previous experience is needed – just a willingness to help and a smile!

As a small thank you, volunteers are welcome to enjoy some of the delicious food afterwards. It’s a great way to support your u3a, meet other members, and be part of our enjoyable events.

Publicity Team

Our publicity team is always looking for volunteers to join our Publicity Secretary, forming part of a team organising outward facing events such as the volunteer fair, etc. It would be really good if we could recruit someone with particular skills in social media. Committee

Our committee members are all unpaid volunteers who bring their experience from all walks of life to help Fleet u3a continue to thrive and grow. We are always looking for members to consider joining, possibly in a "shadow" role to start with. Please do get in touch with any committee member if you would like to find out more.
