We are all philosophers so please don’t let the title ‘philosophy’ deter you. We are never at a loss to find subjects to discuss. Different opinions are welcomed and I hope that they provide stimulation for us all. We do discuss philosophers and their ideas but it is a learning curve for everyone and ideas for future discussions are encouraged from all members.

What is philosophy?
In a broad sense, philosophy is seeking to understand fundamental truths about people, the world in which they live, and their relationships to the world and to each other.
Do I need an academic background in philosophy to join the group?
No. The group would suit people who like to think deeply about topics, hear other people's views and enjoy debates.
What does a typical meeting look like?
There will be up to 12 members in the group. The group leader or another member of the group will give a short introductory presentation on a topic (circulated in advance). Member discussions and debates will follow. Discussions may be lively, whilst always respecting other people’s view and opinions. The intention of the meetings is to explore the topic from various angles to get a greater personal understanding - meetings are not about convincing other members that a particular viewpoint is "right"!
What kind of topics might be discussed?
Possible topics include: What is consciousness? What is truth? Are there things that money should not be able to buy? Should one have the right not to be offended?
When does the group meet?
The group meets on the third Tuesday of the month, 10.00-12.00, Christ Church, Gally Hill Road, Church Crookham GU52 6LH
