The Steam and Transport Group exists to cater for all those interested in transport of all types driven by steam. This doesn't exclude any steam driven machinery of interest such as water pumping stations etc. We have a variety of talks in our 6 meetings in 2025/26.
We always welcome members or non members who would like to give a presentation of their choice on suitable subjects. We look forward to seeing you at our first meeting on 1 October with the reminder that the hall fee is now £12 for the six sessions, tea and tempting biscuits provided free.
Members are encouraged to present their own material, and Peter can offer assistance with that.
| 1 October | Transport at the 1924/5 Empire Exhibition at Wembley and the Crompton and High Peak railway, the highest and most remote system in England |
| 5 November | History of the rise and fall of the Government of Natal railways. |
| 3 December | British Rail's attempts at using Gas Turbine locomotives and other methods of increasing efficency. |
| 7 January | A review of 4 Irish Narrow gauge railway systems. |
